The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) projects that the U.S. travel and tourism industry will supersede pre-pandemic levels this year. Additionally, the U.S. economy is forecasted to reach $2 trillion, a 6.2% increase over 2019’s $1.87 trillion.

Travel is not the only industry predicted to pass 2019 standards—the employment sector could reach 16.8 million jobs. Julia Simpson, president and CEO of WTTC stated, “As travel restrictions ease and consumer confidence returns, we expect a welcome release of pent-up Travel & Tourism demand. That, together with what we hope will be a strong consumer-led economic recovery, creates a positive outlook for the sector.” (Business Traveller, 02.10.22)
