According to research conducted by Global Data, the global travel industry is expected to make a full recovery by 2025. This research shows that international departures will reach 68% of their pre-pandemic levels globally this year, 82% in 2023 and 97% in 2024. By 2025, international departures will reach 101% of their pre-pandemic levels, with international departures projected to reach 1.5 billion.

However, travel demand may look different than it did a few years ago. After two years of very limited travel, several long-term shifts and short-term trends have emerged. Consumers are now more likely to pursue authentic experiences, demand personalized travel offerings, blend business and leisure travel and be more conscious of their overall environment impact while traveling. So, while there are full recovery expectations on the horizons, we are still a long way away from returning to normal, if we ever do. (TravelPulse, 05.13.22)

International travel recovery is on the horizon, but in the meantime, the focus remains on domestic and regional travel.
