While Labor Day traditionally marks the end of a busy summer travel season, fall is expected to be just as busy this year. A new study by IMG based on upcoming trip itineraries offers some intriguing insights into travel trends that are emerging for the season.

These itineraries show that travelers are lengthening their trips in comparison to last year—up from eight days to nine. Travelers are also increasing the amount of money they’re spending on their trips (+47%). And because of this significant increase in spending on the trip itself, more travelers are purchasing insurance policies to protect these trips (+34%). And while the top travel destinations this fall continue to be international, travelers are flocking to more tropical destinations this year.
