Top Flight Takeaways From July 4th Holiday Weekend

Many travelers were hesitant about what could happen over the July 4th weekend when it came to travel. Airlines have been facing staffing shortages, bad weather and schedules shortened for the summer. Despite some travel hesitancy, things have improved since last month. Airline cancellations and delays both dropped throughout the holiday weekend. The Transportation Security Administration processed 2,490,490 fliers on Friday July 1, which was the highest checkpoint since February 11, 2020. 

However, European transport analyst, AB Bernstein, told CNBC that “The pace at which passengers have returned to the skies since the springtime has caught airlines a little bit by surprise, and airports too. They simply do not have the staff right now that we would need for a full summer schedule.”
