Job Market Remains High Despite Economy Trouble

The U.S. employers added 372,000 jobs in June despite a slowing economy, high inflation and rising interest rates. However, the unemployment rate held steady at 3.6% for the fourth straight month, just above a 50-year low.

In June, professional and business services led the most added with 74,000 openings. Leisure and hospitality added 67,000 followed by health care with 57,000 jobs. Nick Bunker, economic research director for Indeed, says “You can put away your recession alarm bells. The U.S. labor market is still very strong.” Although numbers are growing once again, many employers are still struggling with worker shortages nationwide.
