NYC

Google Maps has made key updates that will go into effect later this year. Users will soon be able to have an immersive view of locations from their smartphone. The immersive view is an in-depth navigation that allows users to see through locations before they are there. Google has collected street view and aerial images to create a model of the streets and roads. The update is aimed to help visitors be more informed about traveling places rather than relying on only images. The feature will first be released for Los Angeles, London, New York, San Francisco, and Tokyo with other cities following.

Some other key findings include:

  • Google will let you view the area at different times of the day and in different weather conditions.
  • Users can see what time of the day places and traffic are the busiest.
  • Users can experience what a restaurant or venue feels like as if they are in that place using a 360-degree aerial view.
  • Free hotel booking links have been added to the map search to help travel partners’ reach.
