With this summer expected to set travel volume records, many parents are eager to get away from home with their kids. A new survey of 2,000 American parents, conducted by OnePoll on behalf of Chase IHG Rewards Credit Cards, revealed that the planning aspect of family vacations makes the experience more enjoyable for everyone. Family planners indicated that the most important aspects of a trip when it comes to planning are available amenities (47%), kid-friendliness (41%), proximity to local cultural attractions (40%) and good reviews or recommendations (39%).

The survey also revealed that more than three in four families are able to plan their entire trip itinerary in a total of six hours, spread over a few days (76%) while more than six in ten indicated that they start planning their vacations at least five weeks before departure (61%). Additionally, 67% of parents polled indicated that their kids are involved in planning activities for their vacations.
