Newly released data from Skyscanner is confirming what is becoming a well-known fact—everyone is ready to travel and for the economy to open again. The company’s Horizon Report survey of more than 5,000 people worldwide reveals that travel confidence is slowly rebounding to pre-pandemic numbers, and that May and June will see heavy travel.

The report also revealed that travelers are booking 64 days in advance, a major flip from last year’s last-minute booking norm influenced by uncertainty. Not only are travelers confident enough to be booking further in advance, but more than half indicated that they are making up for lost time by booking vacations that will last more than 14 days (57%).

Additionally, travelers will still be looking to avoid highly populated areas and will be more likely to upgrade airfares to increase convenience and confidence in booking their trips. “People want to get away safely and within the rules, and we expect that as we see more travel become possible, travelers will embrace whatever is safe and straightforward in order to enjoy some time away,” says U.S. Skyscanner travel expert Mark Crossey. (Trip Savvy, 04.28.21)
