Despite the war being waged in Eastern Europe, along with COVID-19 variant concerns, many travelers are returning to international trip-taking right now. According to the Spring 2022 edition of Global Rescue’s ‘Traveler Safety and Sentiment Survey,’ avid travelers are done waiting for their next overseas getaway, having reached their limit after two years of lock downs and restrictions.

Some key findings include:

  • More than one-quarter (27%) of travelers expect to spend extra time, money, or both on upcoming vacations to compensate for the past two years.
  • Most (84%) travelers stated that they are less concerned about the safety of traveling today than they were at the start of the pandemic, and that the threat of a new variant is not likely to prompt any cancellations (74%).
  • Over three-quarters of travelers have outdoor activities and adventure trips planned for this year, while 44% are opting for relaxing getaways, 33% for reunions with friends and family, 18% for educational purposes, 12% for weddings, honeymoons, or anniversaries and 8% for cruise-based trips.
