Thanksgiving Travel Forecast
AAA forecasts that 4.2 million Americans will travel by air this Thanksgiving holiday, an 83% increase from last year and only a 9% decrease from 2019. Even with air travel seeing a boost this year, average airfares are 27.3% lower than last year. On the other hand, hotel and car rental prices have gone up from last year – 39% and 4%, respectively.
“This Thanksgiving, travel will look a lot different than last year,” said Paula Twidale, senior vice president, AAA Travel. “Now that the borders are open and new health and safety guidelines are in place, travel is once again high on the list for Americans who are ready to reunite with their loved ones for the holiday.”
