Southwest Trims Flight Schedule

Due to staffing shortages and inclement weather that led to high numbers of delayed or even cancelled flights this summer, Southwest has announced a plan to trim its flight schedule to combat these issues. The company plans to cut its September schedule by 27 flights per day (<1%) and its October schedule by 162 flights per day (4.5%). “We’re confident these adjustments will create a more reliable travel experience,” Chairman and CEO Gary Kelly said in a statement released by the airline. He offered apologies from the airline to any customer “whose journey with us fell short of their expectation this summer.”
