Airfare Increases As Demand Skyrockets

A recent analysis of the Transportation Security Administration’s daily throughput data shows that an average of 2.1 million travelers have been going through security checkpoints each day over the past two weeks. That’s only 9% fewer people than over the same two-week period in 2019.

And while passengers may be cringing at the crowded airports, airline executives are smiling at record revenues. Sharp increases in airline bookings due to COVID-19 case declines have results in higher fares. As a result, many airlines are hitting new recovery milestones.
